Why Hunt With Hawkeye Hunting Club

Spend a weekend hunting the Piney Woods with experienced local guides who know the land and the game. Hawkeye Hunting Club is an East Texas hunting lodge built by hunters, for hunters. We’re not a travel agency selling a vacation package — we’re a working ranch that manages habitat year-round so you have a real shot at a mature whitetail buck when the season opens.

Whether you’re after your first whitetail or a trophy buck you’ve been chasing for years, we’ll help you make the most of your hunt. We keep our groups small, our land private, and our guides close by, so every hunter gets real attention instead of getting lost in a crowd.

Why Hunt in East Texas?

East Texas has earned its reputation among serious deer hunters, and it’s not by accident. The Piney Woods region stretches across thick pine forests, hardwood bottoms, and rolling terrain that gives whitetail deer everything they need to grow big and stay hidden. Add in a long hunting season, mild winters, and a strong local hunting culture, and it’s easy to see why hunters return year after year.

Our East Texas hunting ranch sits in the heart of this country, surrounded by hardwood timber, pine forests, creek bottoms, and carefully managed food plots that create an ideal habitat for trophy whitetail deer. We’re close to towns hunters already know well — Crockett, Palestine, Rusk, Jacksonville, Nacogdoches, Tyler, and Lufkin — which makes it easy to plan a trip without a long drive once you’re in the region.

Why Hunt in East Texas?

For hunters coming from the city, we also offer straightforward East Texas hunting trips from Houston. Most guests make the drive up in under three hours, which means you can be in a deer stand by that afternoon or the next morning. If you’re searching for a hunting ranch near Houston Texas that still feels like the deep woods once you arrive, this is it.

Guided East Texas Hunting Trips

Not everyone grew up hunting these woods, and that’s fine — our guides did. Every hunt at our East Texas hunting lodge is supported by local guides who have spent years learning this land: where the deer bed down, where they feed, and how the wind and weather change their movement day to day. What a typical hunt looks like:

Morning Hunt

You’ll be in the stand well before first light, when deer are most active. Your guide will have already scouted recent sign and picked a stand based on wind direction and current deer movement.

Midday Break

Head back to camp for a hot breakfast or lunch, swap stories with other hunters, and rest before the evening sit.

Evening Hunt

The second and often best chance of the day, especially during the rut. Guides stay in contact and are ready to help track and recover game.

Evening Around Camp

After the hunt, everyone gathers around the fire pit to talk about the day. This is where hunting trips turn into hunting traditions, especially for families and groups who come back season after season. We also welcome beginners. If this is your first hunt, your guide will walk you through everything — safety, shot placement, how to read the woods — so you go home with confidence, not just a story about the one that got away.

Featured Hunting Packages

We’ve built our packages around how people actually hunt, whether that’s a serious trophy hunt or a relaxed weekend with the kids.

Trophy Whitetail Hunts

Multi-day guided hunts focused on mature bucks. Includes a private guide, lodging, meals, and access to managed food plots and prime stands.

Management Buck Hunts

A great option for hunters who want to help with herd management while still getting quality time in the stand. Often more affordable than a trophy package.

Hog Hunting Trips

Wild hogs are active year-round on our land, making these hunts a good option outside of deer season or as an add-on to your trip.

Corporate Hunting Packages

Bring your team out of the office and into the woods. We handle the logistics — lodging, meals, and guides — so your group can focus on the hunt and each other.

Father & Son Hunts

Built for passing down the tradition. Guides work with younger or newer hunters at their pace, with an emphasis on safety and learning.

Weekend Hunting Trips

A shorter option for hunters who can’t get away for a full week but still want a real East Texas hunting ranch experience. Each package includes guide services, and most include lodging and meals — ask us about specifics when you book, since duration and inclusions vary by season and package.

About Our Ranch

Our property covers a substantial stretch of East Texas timber and open ground, giving hunters room to spread out without ever feeling crowded. We’ve spent years developing the land specifically for whitetail and hog hunting, and it shows in the quality of the animals and the consistency of the hunts. On the ranch, you’ll find:
  • Managed food plots planted and rotated throughout the year
  • Reliable water sources that hold deer on the property
  • A network of elevated blinds and ground stands placed based on real scouting, not guesswork
  • Maintained trails for quiet, easy access to stands
  • A comfortable lodge for meals, planning, and downtime
  • A skinning shed and walk-in cooler to handle your harvest properly
  • A shooting range where you can check your rifle or bow before heading out
Every part of the ranch is designed with one goal — putting hunters in a position to succeed while keeping the land healthy for seasons to come.

What You'll Hunt

Our East Texas hunting ranch is best known for trophy whitetail deer, but there’s more on the land than just deer.
  • Whitetail Deer — Our primary focus, with a managed herd and strong genetics
  • Wild Hogs — Available nearly year-round, great for hunters who want extra action
  • Turkey — Seasonal hunts available depending on time of year
We support rifle, bow, and crossbow hunting depending on the season and your preference. If you’re not sure what’s legal or available during your visit, just ask — our guides can walk you through current regulations and options.

Lodge & Amenities

After a long day in the stand, you’ll want a comfortable place to rest, eat, and talk about the hunt. Our lodge is set up for exactly that.
  • Comfortable cabin-style lodging
  • Home-cooked meals served fresh, not catered from off-site
  • A central fire pit where hunters gather each evening
  • Common areas for groups, families, and corporate parties
  • Clean, functional facilities without unnecessary frills
We keep things simple and comfortable rather than flashy. Most of our guests aren’t looking for a resort — they’re looking for a good hunt, a hot meal, and a place to sit down at the end of the day.
